I am a licensed master's level therapist holding a M.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University NW. I have experience working with individuals, families, teens, and couples. Some of my areas of expertise include relationship concerns, communication difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, parenting skills and concerns, children's behavioral issues, difficult life transitions, and infidelity. While I am flexible in my approach based on the needs of my client, I tend to use an eclectic theoretical modality with a concentration in Family systems, Emotionally Focused and Narrative Therapies in my work. I emphasize creating a space where my clients can move towards healing, and feel safe and empowered in their journey towards change. I believe each individual who seeks help has the ability to make changes in their lives, and am committed to working as a team to help clients achieve their goals.

You have decided to look for a guide through unfamiliar territory, whether it is a new problem or an old nagging issue. I can help you by providing a safe place to take that difficult look at old patterns that no longer work. Becoming mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and judgments can free you to creatively re-imagine yourself and your situation and find new solutions. My thoughtful and intuitive approach can guide you on this journey. I have been especially successful with clients struggling with codependent issues, anxiety, divorce or other transitions, and anger. All are welcome. Codependence or a codependent relationship is a common concern. Sometimes this means that your partner has a substance abuse problem or that you are enabling your partner in some other way. My focus on relationships and inner expectations that may not be healthy is helpful with codependency of any kind. My practice is located in a small intimate office setting in a medical office building. Clients wait for their individually scheduled appointments in a quiet room and not in a high-traffic area with a receptionist. I schedule all appointments personally by telephone. My assistant manages insurance billing.

I provide an accepting and compassionate environment so that you can begin the healing process and move towards meaningful, long term change. I serve individuals from Illinois and Indiana with eating disorders and co-occurring disorders such as OCD, mood disorders, and trauma. I also work with individuals that have had bariatric surgery and have an eating disorder. I approach food and body issues with the understanding that an ED can affect any person in any body. Clients that are seeking treatment for eating disorders will be encouraged to experience health and body acceptance through a non-diet approach. Eating disorders are a complicated diagnosis that often require a collaborative approach of a therapist, dietitian, and medical provider as well as support of family and friends. I will provide support to clients and assist in building a treatment team to aid in the recovery process. Eating disorders can affect any person in any body. I strive to provide treatment that is inclusive and sensitive to the needs of the individual and their unique history and experience with food and body. If you are ready to start your journey towards recovery from an eating disorder, please contact me via phone or e-mail to schedule your consultation.

My focus is to empower families by improving their relationships and communication so family members are more of a support than a burden to each other. Family issues that I commonly treat are couple's communication, sexual issues in a relationship, mixed-agenda couples (where one is considering a divorce), co-parenting after a divorce, behavior issues with children, as well as abuse or neglect in families. I also help families where a member struggles with self-injury, depression, or anxiety.

Hi, I believe the client is the expert in their own life, and this means they should have a strong voice throughout the therapy process. I provide a therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable to share thoughts and feelings, whether they are negative or positive, in the moment. I will definitely meet any of my client's where they are at. I believe most progress happens outside of therapy, so clients find most success when they are willing to be challenged or to experiment with new ideas. I specialize in treating children, teens and adults who struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, and anger management. I am passionate about working with this population and integrate a variety of different therapeutic approaches including CBT, DBT, and behavioral therapy to adapt to the needs of each client. I became a therapist because I learned how empowering it feels to overcome challenges and regain control of your feelings and behavior. I have spent countless hours researching and practicing these skills myself, and want to help other's achieve success as well. This is often challenging, so positivity and nonjudgement are common during session.
